Okay, so Go! Go! Beckham! is way weirder than I expected—in a good way. You’d think it’s just another soccer sim, but nope. You’re basically running around Soccer Island as Beckham, doing platformer-y jumps over pits and kicking soccer balls at... everything. Crabs? Yes. Skeletons? Also yes. It’s like someone mashed up a light RPG with arcade soccer and threw in some surprisingly decent sprite work.

The controls take a second to click—holding B charges your kick, which feels awkward until you realize you need it to knock out enemies or solve puzzles. And yeah, the whole "adventure" part means you’re talking to NPCs, collecting gear, and even unlocking new moves. Weirdly charming, even if Beckham’s dialogue is basically just "Let’s play football!" over and over.

It’s janky in that early GBA way, but there’s something about bouncing a ball off a turtle’s shell to hit a switch that just works. If you’re into offbeat sports hybrids, this one’s a fun little time capsule.
