Ghosts'n Goblins on Game Boy Color is that classic, brutally hard platformer where you play as Arthur, a knight in heart-patterned boxers, chucking lances at zombies and demons. The first level lulls you into thinking "Hey, this isn't so bad"—then suddenly you're getting knocked into pits by flying red devils while your armor goes flying off. Classic Capcom difficulty, where one hit strips you down to your undies and two kills you.
Controls are simple (jump, attack, pray), but the timing is everything. Those floating platforms? They hate you. The weapon upgrades help, but good luck keeping them when a bat dive-bombs you out of nowhere. It's the kind of game where you'll replay the same section 20 times just to reach the second stage.
Still, there's something satisfying about finally nailing a tricky jump or landing a perfect throw. Just don't expect mercy—this is the 8-bit era at its most unforgiving.
