Get Mushi Club - Minna No Konchuu Daizukan (japan) Game

Get Mushi Club is one of those weirdly charming Game Boy Color games that never left Japan. It's basically a bug-collecting RPG where you run around catching insects, then pit them against each other in turn-based battles. The pixel art bugs are surprisingly detailed, and there's this oddly satisfying loop of hunting in tall grass, upgrading your net, and finding rare species.
At first I thought it was just a Pokémon clone, but it's got its own thing going—some bugs evolve, others have special abilities, and there's this whole rock-paper-scissors element to matchups. The menus are all in Japanese, but if you've played enough retro games, you can kinda feel your way through it. That moment when you finally catch a stag beetle after ten failed attempts? Weirdly hype.
Definitely a niche pick, but if you're into retro oddities or just miss that specific late-90s handheld vibe, it's got a strange pull to it.
