Get Backers - Jigoku No Sukaramushu (j)(eurasia) Game

Get Backers on the GBA is one of those weird, kinda niche anime fighters that flew under the radar back in the day. It’s based on the manga where these two guys retrieve lost items—except here, they’re mostly just punching people in a tournament-style brawler.
The sprites are chunky but full of energy, and each character’s got their own ridiculous super move (Ban’s snake-arm thing looks way cooler animated than it sounds). The controls take a second to click—I kept accidentally whiffing specials at first—but once you get the timing down, pulling off combos feels satisfying in that old-school arcade way.
Honestly, it’s not the deepest fighter out there, but if you’re into early 2000s anime vibes or just want something different from the usual GBA lineup, it’s a fun little time capsule. The music’s got that crunchy MIDI guitar thing going on too, which I unironically love.
