Gauntlet on the Sega Master System was a port of the arcade hit, brought to the console by U.S. Gold. It arrived during a time when home systems were starting to offer deeper, more complex adventures, and this one fit right in with its focus on cooperative dungeon crawling.

You control one of four heroes: a warrior, valkyrie, wizard, or elf, each with different strengths. Your goal is to survive a series of maze-like levels, clearing them of monsters while collecting treasure and food to keep your health from ticking down. The game is played screen by screen, and you use your character's specific weapon, like the warrior's sword or the elf's bow, to fight off endless spawns of ghosts, grunts, and demons. The pacing is relentless; you are constantly managing your health meter while deciding whether to fight or push forward. It feels like a tense, strategic scramble against the clock and your own dwindling resources.
