About Gakkou O Tsukurou!! Advance (j)(cezar)
Gakkou o Tsukurou!! Advance came out in 2002 for the Game Boy Advance, a time when the handheld was full of unique Japanese titles that never left the region. This one was developed by Cezar, and it fits right into that era of experimental, niche simulation games. You don't see many games about building a school, which made it stand out even then.
In the game, you take on the role of a school planner. Your main job is to design and construct an entire school campus from scratch. You place classrooms, hallways, and facilities room by room on a grid, managing a limited budget and dealing with student needs. The pacing is methodical; you spend a lot of time adjusting layouts and making sure everything connects properly before you can even open the doors. It feels like solving a persistent, satisfying puzzle where you watch your empty lot slowly turn into a functioning school.
