Your main goal is to find a way to restore your brother Alphonse's original body, which sends you exploring towns and fighting homunculi. The signature mechanics involve using alchemy in real time; you can transmute objects on the fly to create weapons or solve environmental puzzles. Combat is straightforward, relying on your automail arm for melee attacks, and you collect various items to upgrade your abilities. The pacing is deliberate, with some backtracking, and the difficulty can spike during boss encounters. It feels like a solid, hands on adaptation of the source material where your actions directly use the show's core concepts.
