Konami released Frogger for the Game Boy Color in 1998, a time when the handheld was full of arcade conversions and puzzle games. This version brought the classic road and river crossing challenge to a portable screen, fitting right in with the pick-up-and-play style many of us enjoyed back then.

You control a small frog, guiding it from the bottom of the screen to one of several safe lily pads at the top. The journey is split into two distinct, hazardous sections. First, you dodge a steady stream of cars and trucks on a busy road, timing your hops between lanes to avoid getting squashed. Then, you cross a river by jumping onto moving logs and turtles, being careful not to fall into the water or get carried off the side of the screen. The game progresses screen by screen, with each successful crossing leading to a new, often faster and more crowded, layout. The difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding sharp reflexes and precise movement. It feels tense and rewarding when you finally secure a frog home after a close call.
