I first played Frogger on the Game Boy Color in 1998, a version Konami put out that you could play in a bunch of languages. It was a solid little port to have in your pocket, a familiar arcade challenge that fit right in with the portable gaming scene at the time.

You control a frog, guiding it from the bottom of the screen to one of several safe lily pads at the top. The journey is split into two distinct, hazardous sections. First, you must dodge a relentless stream of cars and trucks on a multi-lane road; a single misstep means a quick, pixelated end. After that, you cross a river by hopping onto moving logs and turtles, carefully timing your jumps so you don't fall into the water. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as the traffic gets faster and the river patterns become more complex. It feels like a constant, tense test of your timing and patience.
