Freekstyle on the GBA is one of those weird, over-the-top motocross games where the tracks feel like they were designed by someone who just chugged three energy drinks. You’ve got massive jumps, loops that defy physics, and riders pulling off ridiculous mid-air tricks—like, the kind where you’d actually break your neck in real life. The controls are surprisingly tight for a handheld racer, though, and the Mode7 graphics give it that pseudo-3D feel that was kinda mind-blowing back in the day.
First race in, you’ll probably wipe out a few times trying to figure out the timing for stunts, but once it clicks, you’ll be boosting off ramps and flipping like a maniac. The AI isn’t exactly forgiving, so expect some brutal comebacks if you mess up a landing. Still, it’s got that addictive "one more try" energy, especially when you unlock the crazier bikes.
Definitely a solid pick if you’re into arcade-style racers with zero regard for realism.
