Between battles, you can freely explore the world map, visiting towns for supplies, optional ruins for extra fights, and promoting your units into advanced classes once they gain enough experience. The pacing is generally more forgiving than some other games in the series, with opportunities to grind on the world map if you need to. It feels like carefully moving pieces on a living chessboard where every decision carries weight.
