I picked up Fire Emblem: Morph's Last Stand on the Game Boy Advance back when it was new. It was developed by Intelligent Systems, the same team behind the rest of the series, and it fit right in with the other tactical games on the handheld. The GBA was a great platform for these kinds of deep, turn based experiences you could take anywhere.

You command a small army of characters, moving them one by one across grid based maps. Your main goal is to defeat the enemy commander or seize their stronghold to complete each chapter. The game uses a weapon triangle system where swords beat axes, axes beat lances, and lances beat swords, forcing you to think carefully about unit placement. Characters also gain experience and can promote to advanced classes, which permanently improves their stats and abilities. The pacing is deliberate, and a single misstep can lead to a character's permanent death, raising the stakes significantly. It feels like a tense and rewarding puzzle where every decision carries weight.
