About Fire Emblem
I first played Fire Emblem on the Game Boy Advance back in 2003. It was developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. This was during a time when the GBA was full of deep, portable strategy games, and Fire Emblem fit right in. It didn't try to overwhelm you with flash; it just presented a solid, thoughtful world to get lost in.
You control a small army of characters, moving them one by one across grid based battlefields. Your main goal is to guide your lord, Lyn or Eliwood, through a continent torn by war, completing story driven chapters. Key mechanics include the weapon triangle, where swords beat axes, axes beat lances, and lances beat swords, adding a rock paper scissors layer to every engagement. Permanent death is a major factor; if a unit falls in combat, they are gone for the rest of the game, which makes you carefully consider every move. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be punishing if you rush. Playing it feels like a constant, rewarding test of your foresight and tactics.
