About Final Fantasy I & Ii (japan)
I first played Final Fantasy I & II on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1988, when Square released it in Japan. It was one of those games that defined the NES era for me, a time when RPGs were just starting to show what they could do on a home console. You could feel the ambition in its design, even with the technical limits of the hardware.
You control a party of four warriors, customizing their classes at the start, and guide them across a world map filled with towns, dungeons, and random encounters. Your main goal is to restore light to the world by defeating the four elemental fiends. The game uses a turn based battle system where you input commands for your entire party at once, then watch the round unfold. Exploration happens screen by screen, with dungeons requiring careful mapping and resource management. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be punishing if you wander into the wrong area unprepared. Playing it feels like piecing together a grand, dangerous puzzle with every step you take.
