FightBox was a Game Boy Advance release from 2004, developed by Denki and published by Atari. It arrived during a period when the handheld was full of experimental titles trying to merge different genres, and this one stood out for its particular approach to puzzle combat. You don't see many games that try to blend real time fighting with block matching, but that's exactly what this one did.

You control a fighter on a grid, and your main goal is to defeat the opponent on the other side. The core of the game is matching colored blocks that appear on your side of the screen; creating matches powers up your character and lets you launch special attacks. It's a constant back and forth between managing your own grid to build your offense and watching your opponent to block their incoming moves. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as you face more complex patterns and aggressive AI. It feels like a frantic race where you are always just one good combo away from turning the match around.
