About Fifa Soccer 2005
FIFA Soccer 2005 came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by EA Canada. It was part of that wave of sports titles trying to fit a console experience into a handheld, right when the GBA was hitting its stride with more complex games. You got a decent portable soccer sim without the frills of its bigger cousins on PlayStation or Xbox.
You control a full soccer team, switching between players to pass, tackle, and shoot. The main goal is to outscore your opponent in a match. Signature mechanics include using the shoulder buttons for through passes and lobs, which adds a layer of strategy to build up play. There is also a power bar for shooting that you have to time carefully to keep the ball on target. The pacing is quick, with matches that move fast and demand quick decisions, though the difficulty can spike against tougher teams. It feels responsive and immediate, a solid pocket soccer fix when you just want to play a quick match.
