F1 2002 on the GBA was one of EA’s last cracks at Formula 1 before Sony snatched up the license. It’s got all the 2002 season’s drivers and tracks, which is cool if you’re into that era—Schumacher at his peak, those screaming V10s, the whole deal.
What surprised me was the telemetry system. For a handheld game, being able to check lap times, tire wear, and fuel mid-race felt borderline futuristic. The handling’s arcade-y but not dumbed down—you can tell they squeezed what they could out of the GBA. Just don’t expect Gran Turismo levels of detail.
It’s a solid pick if you want a portable F1 fix with a bit more depth than your average racer.
