F-18 Super Hornet (u)(rising Sun) Game

F-18 Super Hornet on the GBA is one of those arcade-style flight sims that keeps it simple but surprisingly satisfying. You’re thrown right into the cockpit with a chunky pixelated HUD, dodging missiles and lining up shots on enemy jets that actually put up a decent fight. The controls take a minute to get used to—rolling feels a bit stiff at first, but once you get the hang of it, pulling off tight turns between canyon walls feels pretty slick for a handheld game.
What I like is that it doesn’t drown you in menus or realism. You pick a mission, blast off, and within seconds you’re weaving through flak bursts or chasing down bombers. The Rising Sun version throws in some Pacific theater vibes, so expect a lot of island-hopping dogfights. Not gonna lie, the graphics are rough by today’s standards, but there’s charm in those blocky explosions and the way your plane wobbles when you take a hit.
If you’re into old-school flight action without the fuss, this one’s a solid time killer. Just don’t expect Ace Combat levels of polish.
