About Elmo's 123s
I picked up Elmo's 123s for the Game Boy Color when it was new. It was one of those games from the late 90s, early 2000s, aimed at younger kids, and I believe it was published by NewKidCo. It fit right in with the other educational titles on the platform, a simple cartridge you'd pop in to learn some basics.
You guide Elmo through a series of short, self contained activities. The main goal is to learn and practice counting and number recognition. You tap buttons to count objects on screen, match numbers to groups of items, and complete simple puzzles. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with each activity clearly explained by Elmo or another character. The difficulty is gentle, designed for a preschooler to handle without frustration. It feels like a patient, interactive lesson from a familiar friend.
