About Earthworm Jim (u)(mode7)
Earthworm Jim on the Game Boy Advance came out in 2001, a port handled by Rockstar Vienna. It arrived when the GBA was new, a time filled with attempts to bring console hits to the handheld. This version tried to capture the console game's spirit on a smaller screen.
You control Jim, an earthworm in a powerful suit, running and jumping through side-scrolling levels. Your main goal is to fight through bizarre planets to rescue Princess What's-Her-Name. You use Jim's blaster to shoot enemies and his own head as a whip to swing across gaps or grab items. The game moves at a fast pace, and the levels demand quick reflexes to navigate the platforming challenges and enemy patterns. It feels chaotic and unpredictable, a direct translation of the console game's odd energy into your hands.
