About Earthworm Jim
Earthworm Jim arrived on the Game Boy Advance in 2001, published by Atari. This was a time when the GBA library was filling up with ports and original titles, and this version was an attempt to bring the console chaos of the 16-bit era into your hands. It was a familiar name for anyone who remembered the earlier games, now shrunk down for portable play.
You control Jim, an earthworm in a powerful robotic suit, navigating side-scrolling levels. Your main goal is to rescue Princess What's-Her-Name from the evil Queen Pulsating, Bloated, Festering, Sweaty, Pus-filled, Malformed, Slug-for-a-Butt. You run, jump, and use Jim's extendable head as a whip to attack enemies or swing from hooks. The game is structured screen by screen, with you collecting health and ammo while dealing with sudden environmental hazards. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be unforgiving, demanding quick reflexes to survive the absurd enemy placements and tricky platforming sections. It feels like a frantic scramble through a bizarre cartoon universe.
