About Earthworm Jim 2 (u)(mode7)
Earthworm Jim 2 came to the Game Boy Advance in 2002, a port handled by Majesco rather than the original developer, Shiny Entertainment. It was a time when classic 16-bit action games were finding a new home on the handheld, and this one fit right in with its particular brand of cartoon chaos.
You control Jim, an earthworm in a powerful robotic suit, navigating a series of bizarre levels. Your main goal is simply to survive the onslaught and reach the end of each stage, but the path is never straightforward. Jim's signature moves define the action: you use his own body as a whip to attack enemies and swing across gaps, and you can also aim and fire his plasma blaster. The game shifts genres constantly, throwing you into a rhythm-based singing contest or a underwater exploration segment without warning. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, demanding quick reflexes and a willingness to experiment. Playing it feels like being thrown into a cartoon where the rules change every five minutes.
