Man, ESPN X-Games Skateboarding on GBA takes me back. You start off with this tiny skater dude in a chunky pixelated city, and at first, the controls feel a little stiff—until you realize you can tweak the ollies just right by holding the button longer. Then suddenly you’re bouncing off ramps, grinding fire escapes like it’s nothing.
The trick system’s simple but satisfying—no crazy button combos, just timing and a bit of flair. I spent way too long trying to land a perfect manual-to-kickflip over gaps. And the levels? Classic early 2000s X-Games vibes, all industrial parks and half-pipes with that crunchy MIDI soundtrack.
It’s not the deepest skate sim, but for a GBA cart, it nails the feel of throwing down tricks between classes. Still holds up if you dig that era’s arcadey sports games.
