ESPN Final Round Golf on the GBA is one of those old-school golf games that somehow nails the feel of lining up a shot with just a few buttons. You’ve got your power meter, wind adjustments—the usual stuff—but it’s got this weirdly satisfying weight to every swing. Miss the sweet spot, and you’ll watch your ball veer into the rough with depressing accuracy.
The courses aren’t flashy, but they’ve got enough slopes and hazards to make you second-guess that aggressive putt. I remember one par 3 where the green was basically a tiny island—took me way too many tries to land it clean. And yeah, the AI opponents aren’t exactly geniuses, but they’ll punish you if you get sloppy.
It’s not the deepest golf sim out there, but for a quick round on the GBA, it holds up better than you’d expect. Just don’t blame the game when you three-putt from five feet away.
