You control E.T. as he navigates a series of side scrolling levels, trying to find the pieces of his communicator to phone home. The core actions involve running, jumping across platforms, and avoiding scientists and government agents. You collect Reese's Pieces to restore health, and you can use E.T.'s glowing finger to temporarily stun enemies. The level design is straightforward but sometimes requires precise jumps, and the pacing feels slow due to the character's deliberate movement.
