I picked up E.T. And The Cosmic Garden for the Game Boy Color when it came out. It was one of those games that quietly appeared on the shelf, published by NewKidCo, without much fanfare. During that era, the handheld was full of platformers and puzzle games, and this one seemed to fit right in with its colorful, cartoonish look. It didn't try to be the next big hit; it just was what it was, a simple adventure you could take with you.

You control E.T. himself, walking through a large, interconnected garden divided into separate screens. Your main goal is to find and collect a number of special seeds to restore the garden's health. The gameplay involves a lot of careful exploration, pushing blocks to create paths and using E.T.'s extendable neck to interact with objects just out of reach. It's a slow, thoughtful game where you have to plan your moves, and some of the block-pushing puzzles can be quite tricky. Wandering through the quiet, screen-by-screen world gives the whole experience a calm, almost meditative feeling.
