Duke Nukem on Game Boy Color is basically a stripped-down, portable version of Duke Nukem II—which is great if you miss that old-school side-scrolling action. You’re still blasting aliens with ridiculous weapons (the shrink ray’s my favorite), but everything’s been squeezed into that tiny GBC screen. The controls take a second to get used to—jumping feels a little floaty at first—but once you adjust, it’s surprisingly solid for a handheld port.
They kept the weird humor too, like Duke’s one-liners popping up after killing bosses. Not gonna lie, the color palette’s a bit muddy compared to the PC original, but it’s impressive they got the whole game working on a cartridge. If you’ve got nostalgia for ‘90s Duke or just want some straightforward run-and-gun action, this one’s worth a play.
