Duel Masters: Sempai Legends is one of those GBA card battlers that feels like a mix of Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh, but with its own weird charm. You start off getting this rare card from your grandpa—classic anime setup—only for some shady dude to swipe it immediately. So now you’re bouncing between towns, challenging random duelists to get stronger and track it down.
The battles are straightforward if you’ve played any TCG before, but the creature designs are wild—some of these monsters look like they escaped from a neon fever dream. Early on, you’re mostly grinding through easy matches to build your deck, though the AI gets sneaky later with some surprisingly smart plays. And yeah, the story’s cheesy, but in that way where you can’t help but root for your little kohai underdog.
It’s not the deepest card game out there, but if you’re into that early 2000s TCG vibe, it’s a solid time-waster for your GBA. Just don’t expect a masterpiece.
