Driver 2 Advance came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by Infogrames. It was part of that wave of console games getting squeezed onto the handheld, and you could tell they tried to bring the open world driving and crime drama over from the PlayStation original.

You play as undercover cop Tanner, driving around cities like Chicago and Rio to complete missions that involve tailing suspects, evading police, and causing chaos. The main goal is to follow the story by succeeding in these missions, but you can also just steal any car you see and drive freely. The signature mechanics are the driving physics, which feel heavy and slide a lot, and the on foot sections where you get out of your car to enter buildings or find specific vehicles. The pacing is uneven; some missions are straightforward, while others become frustrating due to tight time limits or awkward controls. Navigating the small, blocky city maps with a constantly shifting camera angle makes even simple turns a challenge. Playing it feels like wrestling with a game that is constantly fighting back against you.
