About Dragon's Rock (e)(rising Sun)
Dragon's Rock was a Game Boy Advance release from the early 2000s, a time when portable adventures were becoming more complex. I don't recall the developer offhand, but it fit right in with other action games on the system, offering a solid, self-contained quest without a lot of the fuss you see in bigger titles.
You control a lone adventurer exploring a large, interconnected fortress. Your main goal is to conquer the dungeon by navigating its rooms, which are presented one screen at a time. You fight monsters with a simple sword, and a key part of the game is finding colored keys to unlock corresponding doors, which gradually opens up new paths. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty comes from learning the layout and managing your health against persistent enemies. It feels like a straightforward, focused crawl through a dangerous place.
