Dragon Warrior III on GBC is one of those classic JRPGs that still holds up surprisingly well. You start by creating your hero—picking a name, gender, and even your personality type, which actually affects your stats in subtle ways (I went with "Lazy" my first time, which was... a choice).

The story kicks off with you following in your dad’s footsteps—Ortega, this legendary warrior who bit off more than he could chew against the big bad Baramos. Now it’s your turn to finish the job, recruiting a party of weirdos along the way (my favorite was always the goofy-looking Jester class).

It’s got that old-school Dragon Quest charm—turn-based battles, cryptic NPC hints, and that satisfying grind where you actually feel stronger after each level-up. The GBC port even added these cool little monster animations during fights, which was a nice touch. Just don’t forget to save before wandering into caves.
