Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II is one of those GBA games that still holds up surprisingly well. The first one was rough, but this sequel actually feels like a proper action RPG—you get combos now, which makes fights way less clunky than before. It’s still very much a DBZ fan thing, though. You’re running around as Gohan, Krillin, and Vegeta (yes, finally), smashing through Frieza’s goons and leveling up between story beats from the Cell Saga.
What I like is that it doesn’t just retread the anime—there’s side quests, hidden power-ups, and even some weird little diversions like racing Bulma’s car. The sprites are chunky but full of energy, and the soundtrack nails that DBZ vibe. It’s not perfect (some grinding here and there), but if you grew up with these characters, it’s a solid way to relive the hype.
