Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku is one of those GBA games that really nails the feeling of stepping into Goku’s boots. You start off as a kid fighting classic early villains like Piccolo, and by the end, you’re throwing down with Frieza in all his planet-destroying glory. The combat’s simple but satisfying—just enough special moves to feel like a proper DBZ brawl without getting too complicated.

What I like is how it follows the anime’s story pretty closely, so if you’ve watched the Saiyan and Frieza sagas, you’ll recognize all the big moments. The sprites are chunky but full of energy, and flying around the map with Goku’s signature speed never gets old. Just don’t expect deep RPG mechanics—it’s more about smashing through waves of enemies with Kamehamehas and Spirit Bombs.

It’s not perfect (some of the hit detection feels a little off), but if you’re a DBZ fan, this is a solid way to relive the early arcs on the go.
