About Dragon Ball : Advanced Adventure
Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by Dimps. It was one of many solid side-scrolling action games on the platform, covering the early story arcs of the series up through the Piccolo battles. You get a condensed version of Goku's childhood adventures, which was a common approach for portable games at the time.
You control a young Goku, fighting through levels by punching and kicking enemies, and you can pick up power poles and nimbus clouds as temporary weapons. The main goal is to progress through the story, which is broken up into side-scrolling beat 'em up stages and one-on-one fighting game segments against major villains. You also explore smaller areas screen by screen, breaking open crates for health and power-ups. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty feels fair, with boss fights that require you to learn their patterns. It feels satisfying to land a full combo and then finish a stage with a special move.
