About Dragon Ball - Advance Adventure (j)(rising Sun)
Dragon Ball: Advance Adventure came out in 2004 for the Game Boy Advance, published by Bandai. It covers the early part of the story, from Goku's first adventures up through his climactic battle with King Piccolo. This was a time when the handheld was full of licensed games, and this one stood out for focusing on the original series rather than the more popular Z sagas.
You control Goku through a mix of side-scrolling beat 'em up stages, aerial combat sections where you fly and fight on a single plane, and one-on-one boss battles that play like a simplified fighting game. Your main goal is to progress through the story, which takes some liberties with the source material, while hunting for collectibles like Dragon Balls and items that permanently increase your health or teach you new special moves. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty feels fair, with the fighting game segments providing a challenging change of pace. It feels satisfying to land a full combo and see a boss get knocked back across the screen.
