Alright, so Donkey Kong 5: The Journey Over Time and Space is this weird little gem on the Game Boy Color that somehow got lost in the shuffle. It’s not official Nintendo, obviously—more like a love letter to the old-school DK platformers with a time-travel gimmick slapped on top.

You start off in the jungle like usual, but then bam—you’re suddenly in ancient Egypt dodging Kremlings dressed like pharaohs, or hopping across floating islands in some neon future. The levels are janky in that classic GBC way, but there’s something charming about how over-the-top it gets. Barrel cannons launch you into space, one stage has you riding a T-Rex, and the music? Weirdly catchy for a bootleg.

It’s not polished, and some jumps feel like they’re actively trolling you, but if you grew up with a Game Boy in your backpack, this one’s got that same chaotic energy. Just don’t expect it to play fair.
