Donkey Kong 3 is that weird middle child of the DK series where the big ape finally snaps and turns into a full-blown pest control nightmare. Instead of barrels, he’s siccing swarms of bees on you from the top of the screen while you scramble to blast them with bug spray. Yeah, it’s as chaotic as it sounds.
The plants below start wilting if the bees reach them, so you’re juggling between keeping DK at bay with upward shots and frantically fumigating dive-bombing insects. It’s less platforming, more frantic arcade shooting—definitely a left turn from the first two games. The controls are simple (just move and spray), but the bees come at you fast, and DK’s smug face up there doesn’t help.
Not gonna lie, it’s janky in that classic NES way, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about clearing a screen of angry bees before they wreck your garden. If you’re into retro oddballs, this one’s a trip.
