I picked up Disney Sports: Football on the Game Boy Advance back in 2002. It was published by Konami, which was a familiar name from other sports titles. This was during the GBA's peak, a time when you could find all sorts of licensed games, from racers to platformers, crammed onto that little cartridge. This one stood out simply because it was Disney characters playing a full game of football.

You control a team of Disney characters, like Mickey or Goofy, in matches that feel like a simplified version of arcade soccer. The main goal is to score more goals than the opposing team. A couple of mechanics define the action: you can perform special shots that charge up for more power, and you can use character specific moves, like Donald's temper tantrum, to temporarily stun opponents and steal the ball. The pacing is generally fast, though the computer can put up a tough defense on higher settings, making you work for every shot. It feels chaotic and silly in the best way, like a playground game where the rules are made up and the ball is always live.
