About Dinosaur (beta)
Dinosaur was a Game Boy Color game that never saw a full release; it exists only as a beta from the year 2000. It was developed by Crawfish Interactive, a studio known for other handheld titles, and it fits right into that era of portable adventures where developers were pushing the hardware's color palette. You can feel the ambition, even in its unfinished state.
You control a young tribesman navigating a prehistoric world filled with dinosaurs and other ancient creatures. Your main goal is to survive and explore the land, which unfolds screen by screen. You use a spear for close combat and can find other tools to help you progress. The game involves exploring different environments, from jungles to caves, and solving simple environmental puzzles to open new paths. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with aggressive enemies and limited resources. Playing it feels like uncovering a fragment of a much larger, lost world.
