I picked up Digimon Battle Spirit on the Game Boy Advance back in 2003. It was published by Bandai, and it fit right in with the kind of fast-paced, portable action games that were common for the system. You control a single Digimon, running through side-scrolling arenas to battle an opponent. The main goal is to knock your rival off the screen by hitting them repeatedly. You collect spirit orbs scattered around the stage; gathering enough lets you digivolve into a more powerful form temporarily. The stages are small and the matches are fast, usually lasting just a minute or two. It's a simple game, but the constant movement and the quick shift in power when you digivolve keep you engaged. The whole experience feels like a chaotic scramble for dominance.
