Digimon: Battle Spirit 2 on GBA is basically a love letter to anyone who grew up yelling "Digivolve!" at their TV. You pick your favorite Digimon—I went with Guilmon first, obviously—and jump into these fast, chaotic 1v1 battles where you're dashing around, throwing fireballs, and trying not to get bodied by the enemy's super move.
The sprites are surprisingly crisp for a GBA game, and the roster’s got some deep cuts (Dukemon shows up looking absolutely shredded). At first, I kept button-mashing like an idiot, but after a few matches, you start figuring out when to block, when to rush in, and how to time your digivolution for maximum carnage. It’s way more tactical than it looks.
Honestly, the only downside is that some Digimon feel way stronger than others—looking at you, Imperialdramon—but that just makes winning with underdogs like Veemon even sweeter. If you ever traded Digimon cards at recess, this one’s a no-brainer.
