I picked up Digi Communication Nyo: Datou! Black Gemagema Dan for the Game Boy Advance back when it was new. It was a 0 release, which I think meant it was a budget title, maybe from a smaller publisher. The GBA had so many of these quirky Japanese games that never left the region, and this one definitely fits that mold. It feels like a product of its time, a simple action game made for quick sessions.

You control a small character, running and jumping through a series of single-screen stages. The main goal is to defeat all the enemies on each screen before you can proceed to the next. Your primary tool is a sword for close combat, but you also have a limited-use screen-clearing bomb attack for tight situations. The pacing is fast; you are constantly moving and attacking to clear the area. The difficulty comes from the enemy patterns and the limited space you have to maneuver. It feels frantic and direct, a straightforward test of your reflexes.
