Diddy Kong Pilot was planned for the Game Boy Advance but never officially released. It was developed by Rare, the studio behind other Nintendo titles like Donkey Kong Country. This was during a period when the GBA library was expanding with many different types of games, from platformers to racers, and this title was meant to be their entry into the kart racing genre featuring their characters.

You control Diddy Kong, or other characters from the Donkey Kong universe, piloting small aircraft. The main objective is to win races against computer opponents across various themed courses. Key mechanics include collecting different colored balloons that grant temporary weapons or speed boosts, which you can then fire at rivals to slow them down. The game also featured a mode where you could explore larger, open areas to find items, adding a light exploration element to the racing. The pacing is generally fast, with the difficulty coming from navigating tight corners and managing your limited ammunition. It feels like a chaotic and lighthearted arcade experience, where a single well-placed item can completely change your position in the pack.
