I picked up Dexter's Laboratory: Deesaster Strikes! back when it came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2001. It was developed by Vicarious Visions, a studio that put out a lot of solid licensed games for the handheld. This one is an isometric platformer, a style you saw a fair bit on the GBA, where you view the action from a tilted overhead angle. It's based directly on the Cartoon Network show, so you're stepping right into Dexter's secret lab.

You control Dexter, the boy genius, navigating through his lab and other locations. The main goal is to stop Dee Dee, his sister, from accidentally unleashing a series of his own malfunctioning inventions. You move from room to room in a screen by screen exploration format, solving environmental puzzles to progress. A key mechanic is using different gadgets you collect, like a shrink ray or a grappling hook, to interact with objects and overcome obstacles. You also engage in simple combat, often by using these inventions to defeat robotic enemies. The pacing is fairly quick, though some of the isometric jumping can be tricky and requires precise timing. Playing it feels like you are managing a chaotic science experiment that is constantly on the verge of falling apart.
