I picked up Denki Blocks! back in 2001, a Game Boy Color puzzle game from the UK developer Denki. It was a time when the handheld was full of these clever, compact experiences, and this one fit right in without a lot of fuss.

You don't control a character so much as you manipulate colored blocks on a grid. The main goal is to connect all the blocks of the same color into a single group by sliding them around. Each screen is a self contained puzzle, and the mechanics are pure logic; you figure out the sequence of moves to merge the blocks, often while navigating around obstacles or dealing with blocks that only move in certain directions. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty ramps up steadily, demanding real forethought. It feels satisfying to finally see the solution click into place after staring at the screen for a while.
