About Davis Cup
Davis Cup came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by Ubisoft. It was part of that wave of sports games trying to capture the portable market, a time when you could have a full tennis match in your hands. This one focused squarely on the international team competition, offering a different flavor from the standard single-player career modes found in other titles.
You control a national team through the tournament structure, managing a squad of players in both singles and doubles matches. The main objective is to win enough ties to ultimately lift the trophy. Signature mechanics include selecting your team's lineup before each tie, which involves strategic choices about player stamina and match-ups, and then playing through the matches themselves with a simplified control scheme built for the GBA's buttons. The pacing is generally brisk, though the difficulty can spike against stronger computer opponents. It feels like a quick, tactical take on tennis, where a few key decisions can swing an entire weekend of play.
