Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX on Game Boy Color is one of those late-90s gems that somehow made pixelated bike tricks feel legit. You pick from real riders like Mirra himself and hit ramps, rails, and halfpipes across different courses. The controls take a second to click—holding A for spins, tapping B for tricks—but once you get the rhythm, you’ll be pulling off backflips over gaps like it’s nothing.
The levels are surprisingly varied for a GBC game, from city rooftops to dirt trails, and the soundtrack (for a handheld) actually slaps. My only gripe? The physics can be a little janky when you bail, which happens a lot at first. Stick with it though, and you’ll start nailing combos that feel way more satisfying than they should on this tiny screen.
