About Dave Mirra Freestyle Bmx (usa, Europe)
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was part of that wave of extreme sports games that were everywhere around that time, a portable version of the bigger console experience. You got a solid little BMX game you could take with you, which was the main draw for a lot of us with a GBC in our pockets.
You control Dave Mirra or one of several other professional riders. The main goal is to win competitions by landing tricks and building up your score within a time limit. The core mechanics involve performing stunts like backflips and tailwhips, grinding on rails, and manualing to link tricks together for higher combos. The game is split into different levels and competitions, and the pacing is generally fast, though it can get tough when you're trying to nail a long combo without wiping out. It feels responsive and quick, a satisfying challenge when you finally thread a perfect run together.
