About Dave Mirra Freestyle Bmx 2 (e)(rocket)
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Full Fat and published by Acclaim. It was part of that wave of extreme sports games that tried to capture the feel of console titles on the handheld, a common goal for GBA developers at the time.
You control a professional BMX rider, choosing from a roster including Dave Mirra himself, and ride through various urban and park environments. The main objective is to complete specific challenges in each level, which range from scoring a target number of points to finding hidden objects or performing a set list of tricks. Signature mechanics include linking together grinds, manuals, and aerial tricks to build massive combos, as well as using special moves unique to each rider. The pacing is fast, and the controls demand precision, making some objectives quite difficult to nail. It feels satisfying when you finally land a long, fluid run and hear the crowd roar.
