You control Kuro through side-scrolling stages, using a beam sword to slash at robotic enemies and a grappling hook to pull yourself up to higher platforms. Your main goal is to stop the plans of the mad scientist, Dr. Go, by fighting through his mechanical minions and navigating environmental hazards. The grappling hook adds a vertical element to exploration, letting you reach new areas or avoid ground-based threats. Combat is straightforward, relying on well-timed slashes, but some enemy placements and platforming sequences require precise jumps. The pacing is brisk, with levels that are generally short but can be challenging due to instant-death pits and aggressive foes.
