About Cubix Robots
Cubix Robots for Everyone: Race to the Rescue released on Game Boy Color in 2000, published by 3DO. It was one of many licensed titles from that period, a side-scrolling action game based on the animated series. You don't see many people talking about it now, but it was there on the shelf alongside other cartoon adaptations.
You control a kid named Connor who pilots different Cubix robots. The main goal is to stop Dr. K's sabotage of Bubble Town by navigating through levels, fighting malfunctioning robots, and solving simple puzzles. A signature mechanic is switching between four specialized robots; you might use Huge 'N' Pile to smash obstacles, then swap to Dizzy to fly over gaps. The game is structured screen by screen, with some light exploration to find items needed to progress. The pacing is straightforward, though the controls for some robots can feel a bit stiff, and the difficulty comes more from awkward jumps than complex challenges. Playing it feels like managing a small, clunky toolbox to fix a colorful, broken world.
